The New Direction in Fargo, ND, hosted a super stacked show last night. Internet Dating, Molly’s Worst Enemy, Household, and Comrades played. This was the first stop on Household’s current tour, which they have graced with their melodic hardcore sound before.
The math rock duo, Deano Erickson and Billy Mitchell are known as Internet Dating. They played a longer set than they did on Friday in Ames, Iowa, tacking on a few extra songs. The band’s dedication is made clear through their flawless execution and their love of their respective instruments. They create a really unique and calm vibe, filling space with ambient feelings and occasionally burst out with an uproar of melody. They are in the midst of recording new music.
Molly’s Worst Enemy from Waconia, Minnesota played after Internet Dating. Known well within the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for a few years, the five piece put on another communitive style show that got the crowd pumped up as with the give and take interactions. They always put on a really energetic and crowd pleasing show that leaves everyone exhausted and itching to hear more.
Minneapolis based spirit filled, punk-hardcore band, Household played after Molly’s. Their lyrics and guitar riffs alike are moving and strongly based in traditional hardcore tactics but have recognizable melodies that everyone can bang along to. It was nice seeing our local friends again after their two month, and still continuing on, tour. Abby, Josh, Gut, Mat, and Nathaniel are some of the best people I’ve ever met and they continue to inspire hardcore fans and other genre-heads alike.
Household played a new song, along with some of the favorites! They really stole the show last night.
After Household, Comrades played. Comrades is comprised of Laura and Joe McElroy. The coolest married couple from Virginia. Lol.
Matthew Anthony from Household has been playing drums for Comrades during this tour.
